U.K
Before Brexit, the UK was a different type from Germany and France in the field of food contact material legislation. The UK does not formulate its own technical regulations on food contact material safety at the national level, but converts and implements EU regulations by issuing SI legal documents (Statutory Instrument).
The current SI documents corresponding to various EU food contact material regulations are: SI 2011 No. 231 (plastics), SI 2006 No. 1179 (ceramics), SI 1995 No. 1012 (nitrosamines for rubber nipples). SI 2010 No.2225 (The Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (England) Regulations 2010) released in 2010 is aligned with the EU 1935/2004 framework regulations and 2003/2006 GMP regulations, and also includes active and intelligent 450/2009 regulations. Conversion of the Materials Regulations and the 2007/72 Regenerated Cellulose Membrane Directive.
In January 2012, the British Food Standards Agency (FSA) publicly solicited opinions from the industry and relevant government authorities, seeking to pass a new SI document for food contact materials "The Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (England) Regulations 2012" The motion, the purpose is to In order to implement the EU's new (EC) No 10/2011 Plastics Regulation in 2011 in the UK, and (EU) No 284/2011 Regulation (EU) No 284/2011 on the implementation of special import conditions and procedures for tableware from China and Hong Kong.
After the UK leaves the EU, many of the original EU product regulations will be used and copied to the UK, so most of the safety testing requirements will use the EU's unified standards.
