Summary of Danish E-Cigarette Policy Updates

1 April 2021
· Anyone who manufactures, stores or markets electronic cigarettes or refill containers with and without nicotine must register themselves and places with the Danish Safety Technology Authority prior to marketing.
· Refill containers without nicotine must be notified to the Danish Safety Technology Authority prior to marketing (for products placed on the market on or after 1 April 2021)
· Prohibition of characteristic aromas other than tobacco and menthol in electronic cigarettes, refill containers with and without nicotine and flavor additives for use in electronic cigarettes (for products manufactured 1 April 2021 or later).
· Prohibition of equipment used in connection with electronic cigarettes, which makes it possible to change the smell or taste of the electronic cigarettes in question (for products manufactured April 1 2021 or later).

1 October 2021

· Requirements for standardized design of individual packages and any outer packaging for electronic cigarettes and refill containers with and without nicotine (for products manufactured 1 October 2021 or later).
· Requirements for product ID on individual packages and any outer packaging for electronic cigarettes and refill containers with and without nicotine (for products manufactured 1 October 2021 or later).

1 April 2022

· An annual fee of registration of marketing places is introduced.
· An annual fee on refill containers without nicotine is introduced.
· The fee for registration of e-cigarettes and refill containers with nicotine is changed.
· It is no longer possible to be exempted from paying a fee, if your product has the same composition and design as another product that is already paid notification or maintenance fee by another manufacture or importer. This means that you        must fee a fee for each product you register.
· Fee on tobacco surrogates is introduced for importers and manufacturers
